                           Emily Dickinson

I just finished up reading some of Emily Dickinson's poems. At firtst I must say I wasn't very impressed. Then I read a few more and realized this women was very ahead of her time. I found that most of her poems were kind of hard to understand. The way she writes and the words she uses makes the reader really have to think about what she is trying to say. I had to read some of them multiple times before I fully grasped the message she was trying to get across. Which normaly I don't enjoy having to do, but I found that I wanted to do it with her poems. I wanted to know exactly what she wanted the reader to understand. In the end I'm glad that I read her work. It turned out to be very good.

  1. You mentioned that you enjoyed 'Because I could not stop for Death..." which is one of my favorite Dickinson poems. The extended metaphor is awesome, and if you catch it, it can make you really appreciate her style more.
